Ever Forward meets Thursdays at noon in the portable classroom of math teacher Ashanti Branch at San Lorenzo High School. With 50 members, it is the most popular club on campus. But it wouldn't exist if Branch, 32, hadn't given up a more lucrative career as a civil engineer.
